The 21st International Conference on Luminescence (ICL 2026) was recently held at Kyoto University in Japan. Professor Qin Xian from the Strait Institute of Flexible Electronics (Future Technologies) at Fujian Normal University (FNU) was awarded the 2026 George Blasse Young Investigator Award. He presented his research in the award lecture session under the title “Controlling Energy Flow in Lanthanide Luminescent Materials: From Atomic-Scale Engineering to Imaging Applications”.
The International Conference on Luminescence (ICL) is a long-established academic conference series with far-reaching influence in the international field of luminescence science and technology. First held in 1966, it has long brought together leading scholars worldwide in luminescent materials, spectroscopy, optoelectronics, and related areas. To commemorate Professor George Blasse, a renowned scholar in luminescence, the George Blasse Young Investigator Award was established in 2021. The award recognizes outstanding young scientists who have made highly innovative contributions related to luminescence phenomena and luminescent materials. Professor Qin Xian is the first Chinese scholar to receive this award.
